Factors responsible for pig infections caused by the significant respiratory pathogens porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2), porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PPRSv), and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (M. hyopneumoniae) were investigated in a cross-sectional study. Uganda faces a complex issue involving hyo, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (App), and the presence of gastrointestinal (GI) parasites. Data on infection management procedures were collected via a structured questionnaire. Samples were collected from a group of 90 farms and 259 pigs. Using commercial ELISA tests, a screening process was undertaken to identify four pathogens in the sera. Faecal sample analysis for parasite species identification was conducted using the Baerman's method. Logistic regression served to pinpoint risk factors associated with infections. The results of the study revealed an individual animal seroprevalence of PCV2 at 69% (confidence interval 37-111). This study, accordingly, implemented a cell co-culture process using Drosophila S2 embryonic cells and LD cell lines to cultivate Wolbachia from Dirofilaria immitis microfilariae (mfs) acquired from infected canine subjects. Microfilariae, a count of 1500 (mfs), were introduced into shell vials, which were then supplemented with Schneider medium, using both cell lines. At day zero, and again before each media change from day 14 to day 115, the establishment and multiplication of the bacterium were visibly tracked during the experimental period. Each time point's 50-liter aliquot was subjected to quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) analysis.
